Of Chandler & Bourbon

Nothing profound here, but I liked this essay, as I'm a big Raymond Chandler fan. I also like the idea of literature as addiction.

  1. Interesting article. Maybe the more 'unhealthy' kinds of literary addiction should be in the DSM; I once considered starting a support group for Surivivors of Relationships With Fans of Jane Austen.

  2. Ha!! My wife's a huge Jane Austen fan. Well, "fan" isn't the right word; she's not a Jane-ite. But I swear she knows Austen better than most Austen scholars. A few years back, I got her all new copies of Austen's novels for Christmas because she'd worn hers out.

But then, she's also the person who introduced me to Chandler. And bourbon, for that matter.
